Halloween is just around the corner. If you’re hosting a Halloween party, these caramel apples are sure to please.
- To begin, either make caramel for dipping from scratch or save time by using creamy caramel candies (the squishy kind, not the hard candies) and melting them in a double boiler.
- Take cold apples — ones that have already been washed, de-stemmed and left to chill in the refrigerator overnight — and skewer on sturdy lollipop sticks.
- Dip them into the melted caramel and place to cool on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Before the caramel completely hardens, decorate with chopped nuts, crushed pretzels, sprinkles in ghoulish colors, or even hard candies in spooky shapes for kid-friendly touches. Crushed candy corn is personally my favorite way to go.
Make ahead of time or on the day of for a fun festive treat. Enjoy!
