A Hearty Meal

Hearty meals in the fall are marked by big roasts: beef or pork, or oven-gold fowl. But if you’re already tired of such fare, there’s a whole new option for a warming dinner in the Empire Hotel: chowder. Ed’s Chowder House, the newest project from Michelin-starred chef Ed Brown, serves up traditional New England seafood fare, robust enough to satisfy any winter appetite. Among his offerings are five different types of chowder, including clam varieties in both the New England and Manhattan styles, a sweet corn chowder, and a “loaded shellfish” chowder. Lobster offerings come in every form at Ed’s, including in an outlandish seafood tower to start, peppered throughout creamy risotto, a grilled lobster with vegetables over spaghetti, or even a “lobster crumble” to start.
