Pop Sensation
I’m not really a soda drinking guy. There are a few exceptions, of course, such as Pellegrino’s Aranciata. The high percentage of fruit juice makes it naturally sweet and easy to sip with any meal. New to my carbonated-can-drink list is Dry Soda. These sodas for grown-ups are dry, not sweet and the flavors are delightfully creative. Think: juniper berry, lavender, lemongrass and rhubarb to name a few. Dry Sodas mix well with cocktails and, just like wine, can actually be paired with food. Try the kumquat soda with crab cakes, risotto or grilled chicken; vanilla soda with roasted chicken, fresh fruit or panna cotta. The glass bottles aren’t ideal for picnics but present a great non-alcoholic option at parties. You can find Dry Soda at fine retailers such as Whole Foods or online at DySoda.com.
