Keith MacNally has taken this 73-year-old village restaurant and made it the hottest ticket in town. The décor has been spruced up, but the look of the place is still vintage 1937. This is ultimate bistro food. Start with silky billi bi – a creamy mussel soup, a tasting of three tartares, or – for a cholesterol fix – the roasted marrow bone. Main courses include a classic roasted chicken, two great burgers and a transcendental dish of stuffed pigs’ feet that you have to try. From the grill there is New York strip and the spectacular dry-aged cote de boeuf for two with marrow bones. This gorgeous, flavorful piece of meat will serve three easily. And don’t miss the pommes Aligot – a stunning potato and cheese side. Have the soufflé for dessert. MINETTA TAVERN –definitely worth the wait.
