Getting a table at a restaurant has been streamlined by websites—and now wineries are in on the game. Tim Campbell got the idea for CellarPass.com when he was a tourist from Delaware traveling to California Wine Country—and unable to find the perfect time to visit local tasting rooms. Communication was difficult—he often couldn’t reach anyone who could set an appointment or he called from the East Coast too early. His free-to-consumers website helps tasters let wineries know when they’re going to show up, how many people are in their party, or if they have special needs. And wineries can offer consumers special perks, rewards, or members-only tours. Participating wineries span the country, ensuring wine can be enjoyed outside of Napa and Sonoma.
