I’ve always liked Quinn Hatfield’s elegant cooking not to mention Karen Hatfield’s exquisite desserts, but in their new digs – the former home of Citrus – they have reached the level reserved for LA’s best restaurants. The place is modern and beautiful and the food is stunning. Start with the Croque Madame – yellowtail, proscuitto, quail egg on brioche; or meltingly tender angolotti filled with mustard green and ricotta; or frisée and smoked trout salad. This food makes so much sense. Mains include baked ocean trout with sweet potato, gorgeous duck breast with quinoa porridge, and pork loin with swiss chard. Karen’s desserts include brioche pudding, lime cream pie and sugar & spice beignets. Peter Birmingham’s wine list is lovely; service is unobtrusive and professional. HATFIELD’S at 6703 Melrose - extraordinary. Don’t miss it.
