Unless you live way out in Malibu, SAVORY is a voyage. Located at Point Dume, this dazzling new restaurant is, however, well worth the drive. The kitchen is manned by Paul Shoemaker who formerly cooked at PROVIDENCE and WATER GRILL. The emphasis is on locally-sourced ingredients. An appetizer of spaghetti with a lush sea urchin sauce is heavenly. Locally caught halibut is sublime and pizza with fresh porcini mushrooms and buratta cheese is amazing. Rack of lamb on a bed of farro is a lovely combination and the “Juicy Lucy” – a hamburger seeping cheddar cheese is a wonder. Desserts include chocolate-brioche bread pudding and an incredible banana split with caramel crusted bananas. The menu at SAVORY changes nightly but there are no disappointments. SAVORY is one of the best new restaurants in town.
