An exciting debut at Lincoln Center
LINCOLN the new $20 million restaurant on West 65th Street is a gorgeous addition to the city. Sleek and airy dining areas surround the gleaming stainless steel open kitchen that houses Jonathan Benno - formerly of PER SE - and his team. The food is modern Italian, highlighted by a selection of stunning pastas. Start with subtly seasoned branzino tartare or exquisite house-made mortadella. Then plunge into the great pastas- spaghetti with batarga, black olives, sardines and crunchy breadcrumbs; noodles tinted black with squid ink; or gossamer gnocchi topped with black truffles. Main courses are good but, as in many Italian meals, they don't reach the lofty level of what comes before. The wine selection at LINCOLN is mostly Italian and superb and service is excellent. LINCOLN is a great addition to New York's dining scene.
