New York Wine Country
Finger Lakes region of New York State was a hotbed of resort activity for many decades, and now it’s really making a comeback, thanks to the area’s newfound dedication to viticulture. If you’re interested in a weekend jaunt to enjoy some stand out wine, I highly recommend heading north, and stopping at the Finger Lakes Wine Center, just outside of Ithaca. The Wine Center’s goal is to educate consumers on all things vino, but focusing on the unique terroir of upstate. In the region, there are over 200 wineries, over 14 counties, so there’s plenty to learn about—in more than one trip. Believe it or not, the area makes some of the world’s best Rieslings and Gewurztraminers, so it’s more than worth a trip. For more information, visit www.fingerlakeswinecenter.org.
