Anthony's Best Buttermilk Biscuits
Preheat your oven to 475*. Sift together 2 cups all purpose flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda and ½ teaspoon salt into a large bowl. Cut in ¼ cup vegetable shortening with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Add 1 cup buttermilk and stir with a fork until just combined. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll to a thickness of ½ inch. Cut the biscuits into 2 inch circles. Place the biscuits on to a baking sheet, and bake for 12 minutes, or until tops are light brown.
