The idea of taking flour, water and yeast and making something as delicious, useful and basic as bread is a fulfilling experience. There isn’t much work, just time. There’s just a few minutes of assembling, mixing and kneading, and then some brief attention now and then over a period of a few hours. You can be busy with something else and still bake bread. And kids love to help. Kneading and rolling are procedures that require very little small motor coordination and are thus well-suited to younger children. Making bread is also a great way to save money. You can make a loaf at home for 25 cents while it might cost you 3 bucks at a store. There is also no comparison between fresh home-baked bread and most of the stuff that is sold in stores.
