If you’re looking for a truly warming Christmas cocktail, you can never go wrong with a good batch of mulled wine. Many recipes include so many ingredients and preparation, that the drink can become more of a hassle than anything. But this last minute mulled wine compliments of is a great solution. Add 1 bottle of fruity red wine, such as Beaujolais or Syrah, 4 ounces bourbon or brandy, 4-6 cinnamon sticks, 4-6 star anise pods, 2 long strips of lemon or orange peel and 2 teaspoons sugar to a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat until warm, but do not boil. Remove from heat and let stand for 5-10 minutes. To keep warm throughout the night, you can keep the mulled wine in a crockpot on a low setting.
