National Seafood Month
Did you know that June is National Seafood Month? I think it’s only fitting, as so many summer traditions around the country focus on warm weather, great wine, and fresh, flavorful seafood. You can try grilling fresh-caught fish in filets on the barbeque—add soaked cedar plank in the mix for flavor. Or how about a good, old fashioned crawfish boil, or New England clam bake? These are great feasts to make for a group. One of my favorite traditions is the great crab festivals that happen along the mid-Atlantic region. And did you know you can cook clams directly on your grilling grate? Just cook them until they pop open—and toss any clams that stay shut. And if the weather isn’t agreeing with you, beer-batter your fish and go for an at-home fish fry.
