The Real American Food

Of all American eats, you’d probably say that hot dogs are the most American of all. Even though their roots are German, the frankfurter has revolutionized our lives. Originally, these small sausages were called frankfurters or wieners - two names from two cities - Frankfurt and Vienna. But the Americanization of the frankfurter came from a drawing by a cartoonist who had experienced his first ball park frank and drew a cartoon in which the sausage was given legs, a tail and a head. The result looked surprisingly similar to a dachshund. From that day on, the wiener was called the Hot Dog. So treat yourself to a fireworks show and a hot dog this Independence Day and have a happy, patriotic and safe 4th of July!
