The Best Food on Wheels in L.A and N.Y.

Food trucks are defined by innovative fare that’s inexpensive and unpresumptuous. The Daily Meal shares its annual report of the 2013 top 101 best food trucks rolling the streets of America. Los Angeles came home with the gold medal, having 14 of the nation’s best meals on wheels. Ranked 22, The Grilled Cheese truck makes a Brie melt on cranberry walnut bread that is spectacular. Grill ‘Em All, ranked 14th, serves some of the best burgers around with a heavy metal vibe that’s hard not to like.  Number 12 on the list, the Buttermilk Truck serves breakfast all day, and foodies everywhere can’t get enough of their red velvet pancakes. Los Angeles’ top ranked food truck, Koji BBQ – ranking number 2 overall – brings the best Korean BBQ taco around.

New York City ranks third in overall best food trucks. Coming in at number 11, Schnitzel and Things features the Bratwurst, a German pork sausage oven-roasted to perfection. Vegan, organic and kosher, The Cinnamon Snail truck was ranked 8th best. The menu is seasonally driven, but when available, don’t miss the fresh plum pancakes. Fourth is the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, where traditional soft-serve ice cream meets contemporary toppings. The olive oil and sea salt is a must. And ranking a prestigious number one is Red Hook Lobster Truck, home to the country’s best lobster roll.

Try them all!
