Fresh and Organic in Bridgehampton
Todd Jacobs used to be chef at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor. He has now opened his own place, FRESH, a charming, rustic restaurant that serves locally sourced, mostly organic dishes. But don’t be put off by that. The food is actually inventive and delicious. I loved the mixed berry salad with greens, berries, gorgonzola and toasted walnuts. You can also build your own salad from an exciting list of ingredients. There’s plenty of fresh local shellfish as well as barbequed shrimp and crisp calamari with red pepper and herb aioli. Main courses include wasabi-crusted skate, pan-roasted organic chicken, roasted duck with confit, and a creditable take on Bouillabaisse. Service is genial, the wine list is well-chosen and the general ambiance is quite pleasant. FRESH – something new and exciting in the Hamptons.
