A Charming Seafood-Centric Restaurant in Venice
SALT AIR is like a breath of fresh air from a sea breeze. This delightful place at 1616 Abbot Kinney Boulevard is subtitled “beach bistro.” The charming, crisply whitewashed place is another winner from Dave Reiss of A-FRAME and SUNNY SPOT. The kitchen of Chef Greg Daniels is open and there’s a delightful counter where you don’t need a reservation. The meal starts with an ethereal corn fritter with molasses butter. For openers you can do fine oysters, yummy pea toast, octopus or lobster roll. Main courses include a very good and well-seasoned bouillabaisse, a perfectly cooked whole fish – either fried snapper or pan roasted sea bass, and very crisp pan roasted chicken. The monkey bread is a must dessert. The young staff is friendly, upbeat and extremely attractive. SALT AIR – I love it.
