An Old Favorite Re-locates
Suzanne Goin’s venerable A.O.C. has moved from its former digs near Fairfax to the cozier space that formerly held IL COVO and JOE ALLEN on West 3rd Street. The small-plates concept that was so popular at the old location is intact and the food is better than ever. PLUS the new A.O.C. has a delightful outdoor patio ideal for warm weather dining. Start with charcuterie – prosciutto, chicken liver crostinis, pork rillettes. There is home-baked focaccia, a wonderful romaine, buttermilk, avocado and harissa salad, squid and saffron aioli with black rice, pork belly with peaches and hanger steak with gorgonzola butter. In larger format there is suckling pig confit, house made sausages and, my favorite, roasted chicken with panzanella and olives. Caroline Steyne’s wine list is great, service is excellent and prices are moderate. A.O.C – better than ever.
