Break out the sweaters, build a fire and bust out your shaker because today, we’re talking fall cocktails! Fresh fruits and herbs are key. Try The Flintstone from my book The Complete Book of Mixed Drinks. Mix 1½ ounces bourbon, ½ ounce applejack, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, and several dashes of grenadine and peppermint schnapps in a shaker with crushed ice. Shake, strain and enjoy. Created by my good friend, H. Joseph Ehrmann, the Tender Knob is also delicious. Muddle one apple slice – either Granny Smith or Fuji. Add 1½ ounces Knob Creek Bourbon, 2 ounces alcoholic apple cider, ¾ ounces agave nectar and a pinch of freshly grated cinnamon. Shake and strain over ice. Fight the urge to double strain! Those apple bits add to the charm. Garnish with an apple slice and pull up a seat by the fire.
