Good Spanish food in Santa Monica
Taberna Arros y Vi is a charming new Spanish restaurant on 2nd Street. It has a cozy taberna ambiance and a kitchen that knows its way around a paella. But first check out the terrific list of tapas. Dive into a platter of spicy potato skins – crisp, habit-forming crunchies accompanied by harissa aioli; then try a platter of roasted organic mushrooms with burrata cheese, crispy garlic and truffle oil. Pequillo peppers stuffed with tuna are sublime. Huge New Zealand greenlip mussels are served in a spicy broth with chunks of chorizo sausage; and crisp, chewy pig ears are accompanied by salsa verde. There are three paellas – Valenciana with chorizo and chicken, my favorite, one with vegetables and a seafood version which is really excellent. Taberna Arros y Vi does Spanish good.
