There is nothing quite as quintessentially summer as drinking an ice cold, freshly made lemonade. It ranks right up there with biting into chilled watermelon and laying out by the pool. Now, old-fashioned lemonade is delicious, but I’ve got a few fun twists for you. Begin by making a little less than a pitcher of your favorite lemonade. Let stand. Chop up half a medium sized watermelon. Blend until smooth, and strain. Add the watermelon juice to the lemonade, stir in a dash of mint, and enjoy! And if mint really does it for you, blend mint with the watermelon. Now, to make a strawberry basil lemonade, grab a saucepan. Bring one cup water to a boil. Add in the strawberries, and stir until softened. Turn off the heat, toss in basil leaves, and let cool. Strain, and add the liquid to your lemonade. Garnish with basil leaves, and you’re summertime ready!
