One of my favorite ways to enjoy the smell of roses is in whipped cream. In a bowl beat heavy cream with electric beaters, adding 1/4 cup granulated sugar and a half or full tablespoon of rose water, until the mixture holds soft peaks. You can serve this with practically anything. The scent of rose is light but fragrant, sophisticated and slightly sweet; stunning served simply with a bowl of fresh raspberries or strawberries, and sinful atop a slice of lemon cake. When served with a glass of Rosé or a chilled glass of Champagne, this cream brings out the more subtle floral elements in the wine. This is no cool whip. And there are plenty of other uses for this splendid stuff. From cupcakes to strawberry shortcake, it’s a refreshing delight. Rose Flower Water is available at most gourmet food stores. So make sure to stop and smell the roses.
