If your flavored spirits taste more like furniture polish than the fruit listed on the label, rest assured, there is a much more natural route to have you sipping tastier cocktails in just a few days.
Infuse your own spirits! Clear spirits infuse best — vodka, gin, light rum, even Blanco tequila. Gather your fresh herbs, spices, or fruits; wash them thoroughly and put them inside a clean, airtight jar (mason jars work spectacularly).
Cover the flavoring with your chosen spirit, close the lid, and put in a cool, dark place for a few days — the fridge is generally a good idea. Shake 3 to 5 times a day, and do a taste-test after three days.
Once you hit your preferred flavor profile, strain your now-flavored spirit into a clean jar, and store with the rest of your bar accoutrements. In the midst of the do-it-yourself and mixology movements, infused spirits couldn’t fit the bill more. Cheers!
