Break out the sweaters, build a fire and bust out your cocktail shaker because today, we’re talking fall cocktails! Fresh fruits and herbs are key.
Try The Flintstone from my book The Complete Book of Mixed Drinks. Mix 1½ ounces of bourbon, ½ an ounce of applejack, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, and several dashes of grenadine and peppermint schnapps in a shaker with crushed ice. Shake, strain and enjoy.
My buddy H. Joseph Ehrmann created the Tender Knob – also intensely delicious. Muddle one apple slice – either Granny Smith or Fuji. Add 1½ ounces of Knob Creek Bourbon, 2 ounces of alcoholic apple cider, ¾ ounces of agave nectar and a pinch of freshly grated cinnamon. Shake and strain over ice. Fight the urge to double strain! Those apple bits add to the charm. Garnish with an additional apple slice, grab a book, and sip in the taste of fall.
