An: To Eat
An, which means to eat. Nestled right by Rodeo Drive in posh Beverly Hills is Helene An's upscale award-winning Vietnamese restaurant, Crustacean. Helene and her daughter Jacqueline have now added a cookbook to their ever-growing food empire. An: To Eat, is a beautiful collection of recipes that journeys through Indochina's lush meadows to the fields of California. In the 100 recipes featured, An’s Vietnamese, French, and California influences are evident. The book starts with the necessary equipment and tools as well as an introduction of staples used in Vietnamese cuisine such as, lemongrass, Thai basil, and star anise. The Crispy Turmeric Fish with Fresh Dill and Vietnamese Steak Tartare with Honey Truffle Dijon are a couple of my favorites. An to Eat, available now for $35, is a great addition to any collection.
