2 oz. Bombay Sapphire gin
1 oz. Justinos Rainwater Medium-Dry Madeira
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
3/4 oz. Licor Beirão, a spiced orange liqueur from Portugal (imported
by Aidil wines)
Mild curry to garnish
Pour a little mound of Madras curry on a small plate and set aside.
Moisten the outer edge of a cocktail glass by rubbing it with a lime
wedge. Gently roll the rim of the cocktail glass onto the curry, coating
only half of the glass and set aside.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour all the ingredients.
Grab a
bar spoon with a long handle and hold it in between your thumb and index
and middle fingers. Stir gently for about 30 seconds with an upward
and downward motion, while twirling the spoon in between your fingers.
Strain into cocktail glass and serve.
This cocktail (the name means "Route to the Indies") is
